Nails inspired by art by Keith Haring.

Trying to come up with new design I looked through my memory to find some thing to get inspired from. Then I remembered this artist that we talked about in art class years ago. I remember he had some cool theme through his works. My problem were just that I didn't remember his name. So I spent some time searching through the world of internet and then I found it. The artist was Keith Haring. So here comes the results of my nails inspired by Keith Haring.

This is the work that inspired my nails.

To do this nails I started of with a coat base coat and then two coats of white. Then I used a thin brush to paint all the characters and then with a striping brush I did all the black lines around them. The heart I did with a dotting tool though. Topped it off with a top coat and its done!

Tribal Nails

Sorry for not updating in a while. Been working, been on vacation and just been general lazy. I haven't even painted my nails in so long which isn't alike me at all.

But now I'm back and I'm back with a tribal printed nail art. Some girl even asked me if they were stickers when I was out shopping. I guess that's something good, haha.

I know the lines aren't the straightest lines and the cleanest clean up, but it's what I got for you today. For this design I used a striping brush and a dotting tool.

White - OPI - Alpine Snow
Pink - Essie - Watermelon
Blue/Green - Essie - Turquoise & Caicos

Sorry for being away so much, but I will try to make it better for you!

Today I wanna share an easy design. Not the most colorful one but I like it. Looks kinda cool according to me.

Black and White Nail Art by Elins Nails

To do this design I started with a base coat as usually. Then I painted two layers of black. Once it was completely dry I freehand painted with a thin brush and then added some dots with a dotting tool just to make it a little prettier.

Then I just added a layer of top coat for the finishing touch.

This time I went with a turquoise and blue design. Im pretty happy about the colors in it, think they made a good match.  The whole design is made of different sized dotting tools.

Cartoon Nails

Been really busy with school the last few days. But now graduation is just around the corner so hopefully I will have to update the blog more often from now on. This post wont be so long because I don't even have a proper picture of this design. So you have to be satisfied with a cell phone picture, taken before clean up. Soooorry.

They are suppose to look like nails from cartoons.

To do this nail I started with base coat. Then I painted two layers of pink nail polish. With a striping brush I painted the black on the nails edges. With the same brush I added some white thingy on the nail to be a reflection.

Sorry for the bad post and I hope you forgive me for this!

Justin Bieber Nail Art - Tribal Print

Been really busy in school lately so you all have to excuse my absence from the blog. These nails I'm gonna show you I made in a really hurry late evening. Because the day after I was leaving home at 4 am to go and start queuing for the Justin Bieber concert, and I just had to have nice nails for the occasion.

Justin Bieber Nails by Elins Nails

Its a pretty easy design. I just painted all the nails except one black and the last one gold for an accent nail. On the black nails I took a striping brush and a small dotting tool and made gold tribal prints on it. On the accent nail I did my best to write Justin Bieber.

This was all for now, and I'm praying I will get more time for my nails and the blog in the future.

Butterfly Nail Art

It seems like spring is finally here for real this time. I think I may have celebrated it a little to early when I said it the last time, of course it started snowing after that. But now this good weather been holding on for a while so I think it's finally time to celebrate that spring is here, for real this time.

Because of this I wanted to do something springy, and purple. That's what I had in my mind so that was what I did.

I started thinking about this design I seen everywhere on the internet already. When I think about spring I think about the flowers which starts blossoming and the animal life wakes up after the cold winter. So that's why my nails currently have a butterfly design on them.
Butterfly Nails by Elins Nails

For this design I started of with a base coat, which is a must to protect your nails. And then I made a purple gradient. I don't think I really gotten the hold of this gradient thingy, but I still keep doing it. But practice makes perfect right? I did the gradient with a make up sponge which I used to just dab the lighter purple on the darker purple.

Butterfly Nail Art by Elins Nails

Then I took a striping brush and with black nail polish I first made a curved line at the bottom of the nail. And then from the curved line I made more curved lines to the tip of the nail. After that I made some small curvy lines between the curved lines. And this is starting to sound pretty funny, loads of curved lines. Then I painted black on the tip of the nail from the small curved lines and up. With a dotting tool I made white dots on the black tip.

This is how it looks when you see it from the right side.

The nail polishes I used for this design is -

Don't forget the base coat.
Darker purple - Mavala - Samarkand
Lighter Purple - OPI - You're Such A Budapest
Black -  Isadora - Gothic Black
White - OPI - Alpine Snow
Top coat - Seche Vite

Thanks for checking out my blog, you are welcomed back anytime.

Easter Nails

Easter is here and I'm finally allowed to do Easter design, which I love. Easter is colorful and pastel colors fit perfectly here.

For this design I started with five base colors, one for every finger. And these colors where the main colors in my design which I used the most of. Then I added two accent nail where I added some other colors.

Easter Nails by Elins Nails

I started with painting all the nails with base coat and then every nail with the base color I decided for them. I went on pretty light colors, like pastel like. I did my pinky blue on purpose to continue with the blue pinky challenge, which you can read more about in last post. The thumb that you can't see on this picture is the green polish that you can see on the rest of the nails. The three nails are then suppose to look something like an Easter egg. So with the five base colors I made some zigzag lines and straight lines with a striping brush. Then some random dots with a dotting tool. Added some white dots too to fill the empty spaces because I didn't want the to use the same color next to each other.

Easter Nail Art by Elins Nails

On my ring finger is then suppose to be the Easter bunny. I started with painting the shape with a striping brush and then with a larger brush I filled it in. Then I did the eyes and nose with different sized dotting tools. Take notice its not skew-eyed like it usually is haha. Then I added the whiskers and then with a dotting tool I added some light pink on the cheeks and ears.

My thumb have a little chicken on it. The body is made with dotting tools and also the eyes. The hair, neb and eggshell is made with a striping brush.

The tons on nail polish I used for this -

Don't forget the base coat.
My five base colors.
Green - Mavala - Pistachio
Pink - Essie - Splash Of Grenadine
Orange - Mavala - Fresh Melon
Purple - OPI - You're Such A Budapest
Blue - China Glaze - Kinetic Candy

Brown - OPI - You Don't know Jacques
White - OPI - Alpine Snow
Black - Isadora - Gothic Black
Light Pink - Ciaté - Cutie Pie

Darker Orange - Ciaté - Speed Dial
Yellow - Ciaté - Big Yellow Taxi
Top Coat - Seche Vite

Swatch - Nails Inc. Leather Effect

Here comes a swatch for all of you guys. When I first saw this on a few blogs I knew exactly that I just had to have it. So when I saw it standing on the shelf at Sephora I just had to take it.

Nails Inc. Leather Effect Swatch by Elins Nails

This nail polish dries to a surface that is suppose to remind of leather. It's almost like OPI's liquid sand polishes but it doesn't dry to such a grainy surface. It's actually pretty soft, but still not. It's so hard to explain.

Nails Inc. Leather Effect Nail Art by Elins Nails

To do something fun about this I added some design over it with white nail polish. Black and white can never go wrong. I didn't add some top coat over this to not destroy the charm with this nail polish.

With this kit you got some studs and crystal with it, which I'm saving for another time.

What you think about this?

Matte Ikat Nails

Decided to make my Ikat nails matte. I think matte nails are really nice and everytime I do it I always tell myself why don't I do this more often.

To do this I used Essie's Matte About You. It's the best matte top coat I ever tried.

Here under you can see the comparison between matte and shiny. You can't see this much I notice now but you can see it in the shimmer and the light reflection. The first picture is shiny and the second is matte.

Which one you liked the most - shiny or matte?

Ikat Nails

I just got home with two new nail polishes, both from OPI's collection Euro Central. I know directly that I wanted to do something with both those nail polishes. So then I came up with the Ikat design. It's a pretty easy design that lets you be a little sloppy and still get a good results.

Ikat Nails by Elins Nails

Before doing anything I started with a base coat. Then I painted all my nails blue. Then with the nail polish brush I added some random spots with the pink nail polish. Then I took the white and made some spots in the pink. Then with a striping brush I made small black lines all around it and then in the middle of the white too. Then because I wanted more pink I added more pink over the black in the middle, but this isn't something you have to do.

The nail polishes I used -

Always start with a base coat.
Blue - OPI - Can't Find My Czechbook
Pink - OPI - Suzi's Hungary Again
White - OPI - Alpine Snow
Black - Isadora - Gothic Black

Then I had Seche Vite top coat over that but forgot to include that in the picture.

Thanks for visiting my blog and I hope to see you around again.

Heart Cheetah Print Nail

I'm back with another Valentines Day design. I got loads of ideas in my head right now so hopefully there will be a few more if I got the time for it.

This design is a twist of the cheetah print, also know as my all time favorite design. It's just so easy and there is so many ways to do it. All colors work with it. I like this design, it's not as much as valentines day design as the others I done though. But this is a great way to spicy up the cheetah print design.

Heart Cheetah Print Nails by Elins Nails

For this I have just used dotting tools. What I added to this design is the pink and purple hearts to the brown prints. Thought it gave it a little color kick.

Heart Cheetah Print Nail Art by Elins Nails

I started with a pretty sheer color and when you do that it's always good to start with white first to don't have to add loads of layers of the sheer color. I already had white gellac under. One of the colors I used are a liquid sand polish, love how they look when you add a top coat.

The nail polishes I used -

Always start with a base coat!
Base coat - OPI - Natural Nail Base Coat
Light brown - Ciaté - Cookies And Cream
Pink - OPI - Pompeii Purple
Purple - OPI - Can't Let Go

Brown - OPI - You Don't Know Jacques
Black - Isadora - Gothic Black
Top Coat - Seche Vite

Hope you like this design.

Gellac With Cheetah Print Design

Did my friends nails today. Did some gellac on her with my Depend Gellack Kit. I even added a little design, so if the gellac does what it is told to do it she will have to wear it for awhile. So I hope she doesn't get tired of it.

Cheetah Print Gellac by Elins Nails

I did an easy and pretty design. Actually the same that I am wearing except different colors.

Cheetah printed is my favorite design, it's easy and doesn't take that much time to do and it always ends up good.

This is unfortunately everything for today. I'm so tired and need to shower before I go to bed.

But if you got any questions about Depend gellack kit just leave a comment!

Colorful Striped Nails

Here comes an new design that I have no idea what to call. It's a pretty abstract, and very colorful. Which I like, to light up the ugly gray weather outside. Really don't want more snow now.

The design is inspired by a painting I saw on instagram which you can find here.

Colorful Striped Nails by Elins Nails

To do this design I started with base coat to protect my nails. Then I painted all the nails with 2 layers of white to have a good base so I didn't have to use how many layers of the colors I used over it. Then when it was completely dry I took a brush and just started to doing different triangle shapes over the nails in different colors.

Colorful Striped Nail Art by Elins Nails

After some time when I finishes all the triangles in all the different colors, I took a striping brush and first painted black lines around the edges of all the colors triangles. Then I did lines inside the triangles.

I'm really happy with this design, it took some time but it was all worth it I think.

The nail polishes I used are these -

Base coat - Isadora - Second Nail
White - China Glaze - White Out
Pink - Essie - Splash Of Grenadine
Blue - Ciaté - Headliner

Purple - H&M - Liberty Girl
Yellow - Ciaté - Big Yellow Taxi
Pink - H&M - Pink Preppy

Green - Mavala - Pistachio
Blue - H&M - Turquoise
Purple - H&M - Lilac Plum
Beige - Ciaté - Cookies And Cream

Black - Isadora - Gothic Black
Top Coat - Seche Vite

Matte Nails

I'm really into matte nails right now. Yesterday after wearing this design for a day I decided to make it matte. I love matte nails when you get nail polishes with glitter in them like this design. To do them matte I used Essies Matte About You.

It's so much easier taking pictures of matte nails, just saying.

And here is a little comparison between shiny and matte -
